We are Mahou San Miguel
We are a family-owned, 100% Spanish company, a leader in the Spanish brewing sector in our country, with a production share of 34%.
We have 11 breweries—eight in Spain and three outside our borders—and four water springs, with their associated bottling plants, and a team of over 3,200 professionals.
We have a nearly 129-year history that began with the founding of Mahou in 1890. Since then, we have never ceased to grow. In 2000, Mahou acquired San Miguel; in 2004, we absorbed the Canary Islands brand Reina, followed, in 2007, by Cervezas Alhambra; in 2011 we diversified our business with the acquisition of Solán de Cabras.
We became the pioneer Spanish beer company in promoting the craft world thanks to our stake in North American craft brewers like Founders Brewing and Avery Brewing—with whom we have collaborated since 2014 and 2017, respectively—and with the Spanish craft brewer Nómada Brewing. In addition, our focus on localism is demonstrated by our decision to acquire a stake in the brewer La Salve, of Bilbao, and of the Canary Islands company Aguas del Valle de la Orotava, of which we became majority shareholders in 2018.
We continue expanding our footprint outside of our borders, consolidating our position as the most international Spanish brewer, with a presence in 70 countries. We now have two international subsidiaries, Mahou India and Mahou Chile, which are moving forward at a solid pace, and they are helping us to continue growing on other continents.
We have a wide portfolio of domestic beers, including Mahou Cinco Estrellas, San Miguel Especial and Alhambra Reserva 1925; pioneering products in their category, like San Miguel 0,0, San Miguel ECO, Mahou Barrica, as well as brands for people with gluten intolerance, like San Miguel Gluten Free and Mahou Cinco Estrellas Sin Gluten.
We also have a wide assortment of international beers, resulting from agreements entered into with partners such as Carlsberg and Warsteiner, and water brands like Solán de Cabras, Natura and Fonteide.
